New Year's Eve Day

Weeding my garden today. Thought i was pulling weeds and then i realized they are my turnips i planted. Picked my mustard greens also for my smoothies in the morning. Setting up the crock pot now .. making a white bean soup for New Year's Day .. will add my turnips i picked today.

The New Year is arriving. Let's make it a Great Year of 2012 and eat more greens; esp. KALE !!

My Neglected Garden

New Year's Eve day - bright and sunny here in Florida. My kale is finally starting to grow. No tomatoes or flowers on my tomatoe plants. Don't know where i went wrong there. Been working so much; i have neglected my garden though.

Hand-crafted Christmas Village 2011

Christmas Village on my hutch. I only made the pet store and firehouse. Julie created the TOY STORE with her grandson. The little sweet shop is a Kleenex box - i pulled out a kleenex to make it look like smoke coming out of the chimney. The paint brush holder, i actually painted years ago, when Julie and I took a one-stroke class. Each year, i'll have to add a building or two.

Growing Garden

Can't believe how fast everthing is growing..been using the turnip, mustard greens and red leaf lettuce in by smoothies i drink every morning.

In October 2011

In october, I planted mustard greens, turnip greens, tomatoes (mr. stripey), red leaf lettuces and somehow i picked up brussels sprouts (thought i was picking up collard greens). Was not able to find KALE - my favorite.

Birthday Surprise

This was a black table/plant stand left over from a garage sale i had at my house. So i painted it this light green, put some cutesy stickers on it, then sprayed the whole table with clear acrylic. Taking it over to someone's house for a birthday surprise. Maybe she will post it on her blog.

Went to the Gardens with Julie and her family. Lots to see. Lots of walking. I had achy ankles when we left.

Fall Festival at Mounts Botanical Gardens

Visited Mounts Botanical Gardens on Sunday. This is a walking palm tree....walking towards water. Even though i have lived in florida for 28 years; never saw this palm tree before.

Christmas Village

I was bored and since it is too early to plant my garden; i decided to start my x-mas village. I am using food boxes from the kitchen for the village buildings. And stickers and such that i can pick-up on sale. I will add x-mas decorations later. Not sure what my next building will be.

Copic Sketch Pens

Attended a copic sketch class; these pens are expensive, so i only bought 8 pens. My friend, Julie bought me this frog on a lily pad, so i decided to color it with the copic pens. The pens are cool to color with.

Hunter and Vada

My two helpers. Hunter, my big male siamese cat of 18lbs likes to dig and roll around in my garden. So I banned him from going outside.

Kale Pictures

These are pictures of my garden I planted earlier this year - kale, redleaf lettuce, yellow squash. October is coming up and I am excited about planting another garden. It was a hot, hot summer this year in Florida, so i didnot try to grow anything. The heat and bugs ruined my garden last summer. I love Kale - Kale goes with everything...Imostly juice it, but I also add to soups and stews.
